Meet Our CIO
Sheree McFarland is CIO for West Florida Division. Sheree has over 30 years of Healthcare Information Technology experience, including 25 years with HCA. Since 2005, she has served as Chief Information Officer of HCA’s West Florida Division, which includes 16 hospitals, free standing outpatient surgery centers, free standing emergency departments, and over 50 physician practices. She helped design and implement the IT Support Model for HCA and has worked on acquisitions, divestitures, first wave of Advanced Clinicals and numerous IT initiatives.
During the course of her HCA career, Sheree served as Director of IT at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point and Oak Hill Hospital (1996-2003) and Division Director of IT&S (2003 -2005). Prior to HCA, Sheree worked at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC (642 bed, teaching hospital) from 1989-1996 serving as Director of IT and Clinical Information Systems, Director of Financial and Administrative projects.
Sheree graduated from the Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1989 with a MS in Industrial Psychology and BA Honors in Psychology 1988. She was awarded an advanced studentship award by the British government.
Sheree is a Rotary past president and member of over 20 years, a member of Toastmasters, HIMSS (Healthcare Information Management Systems Society), ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives) and is serving a 3 year term on the CHIME Board (College of Healthcare Information Management Executives). She is both a Fellow and Life member of CHIME.
Sheree was awarded Tampa Bay Business Journal - Business Woman of the Year for Healthcare and CIO of the Year for Healthcare in 2017. In addition, she received recognition from Health Data Management’s Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT for 2017, 2018 and 2019. Sheree made Becker’s Hospital Review-“Women to watch in health IT 2020 and 100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to know 2020.
